ASG Parent and Child Show 2011

Well, I have to admit, I'm not that great at blogging! I hadn't realised how long ago it was since I posted something!! Oops!

So another ASG show has come and gone with the crazy lead up and then those three manic days! Numbers down slightly on attendance but not significant. With the World cup rugby on and games on both Saturday and Sunday, that could account for it. Hey and GO TONGA on your win against France!!!!! Brilliant!

During mid September we rushed through a photo shoot with the amazing help of Emily Ansell from Pukumahi Productions. Emily met Comfy Bebe in 2009 at the ASG and has been one of our enthusiastic Sling wearers. Then in 2010, she answered the call to Mum's who liked our products, to join us on the stand. With her wonderful skills she then helped us revitalise our photos and a Lookbook for the 2011 ASG stand and again came and helped promote the products this time with the use of the nappies under her belt on son Marley.

So its great we will be able to start updating things, and the beautiful nappy banner on the stand for just gorgeous! Thanks Emily!

I had the challenging situation of my daugther getting ill in the weeks leading up and then being admitted to hospital leaving me to finish production and planning and look after 2year old Sofia!!!! Oh Boy! Stressful! But how amazing when my sister, Nicola, turns up from Wellington to help for a few days and then flies back a few days later to help on the stand!!

Awesome!

Despite the challenges, with the amazing support from Helen Farrington and the team, we opened at the show with a very professional stand and beautiful products to offer. Response was overwhelmingly positive and we were able to secure a more established place with the Comfy Bebe Brand.

Thoroughly enjoyed meeting the lovely people, about to have their lives changed forever when that new wee life arrives and see some of the cutest wee babies and children.

A great feeling to help inform people of things that will make a difference in their lives as they begin the journey of raising a family!

First Blog for 2011

Well, the Christmas/New Year period is over and I can't believe January is also over!

Hope everyone had a wonderful break.....boy have we been blessed with the most amazing summer.

So the Comfy Bebe workshop is back up and running......ready for the year ahead. I'm excited that we will be in Wellington for the ASG Parent and Child show in June. Some of our goods are already in Organic Baby (Jackson Street, Petone) so if you're in Wellington pop in and see Lianne.

An update on my home life and Carina and my granddaugther Sofia.....they have recently moved into their own place which is a huge step and I'm so proud of Carina and the way she organised the move. Well done Baby!! You are an awesome Mummy and Sofia is just beautiful.

Such a big step.......you know there are alot of teenage Mums out there doing the best job they know how, loving their babies! One thing I've learnt through all of this over the last 2.5years with Carina and mixing with many wonderful teenage mums is that.....don't judge them, rather be available to them. They need their families, friends and community to offer support in what ever form that might be. Whats the saying...."It takes a village to raise a child!" I think we all need to remember this.

Hey so thats my thoughts, looking forward to 2011, meeting more of you lovely expecting and new Mums.

Wellington??

Hi there

I'm in Wellington visiting my Sister for her birthday and we drove past the TSB Arena yesterday! So whys that so important?? I didn't know where it was and it will host the ASG Parent and Child show in June 2011.

I know from feedback Wellington has been asking for more exhibitors to bring there goods to that show and fair enough, it must be frustrating when Auckland seems to get the most focus. Comfy Bebe has decided to come down to Wellington to be at the show in 2011 for the first time! It will be a great opportunity to meet our prospective customers and learn what they are looking for, show them our beautiful range and hopefully impress alround!!

Looking forward to it! In the mean time back to the drawing board to design more Merino Clothing as Wellington is definitely cooler than Auckland!

And just to give you the heads up......we have run our introductory prices for over a year now and with increased costs, GST increases, etc it is time for us to move to a more realistic price both for you and our business to survive.

As you keep telling us, for what we are offering our prices are very reasonable compared to others on the market.

So from the 1st January 2011 the new prices will be effective.

Thanks for your support and especially those Mum's out there using our products and sharing them with their friends too! We appreciate your recommendations!

Hope you are all keeping sane as we move oh so fast towards Christmas!!

Condolences to the Families of Pike River Coal Tragedy

As a Nation we've been gripped with the unfolding tragedy of the Pike River Coal mine near Greymouth.

I personally have been watching the news and hoping with the families that their loved ones have survived until this last explosion blew away all hope of that.

Your pain is felt widespread, although none of us can truly know how you feel. We just know the pain of losing loved ones and so our love and prayers go out to every family effected by this.

May God's grace and love be your support and comfort at this time.

Hi Everyone

Well, its a week since we were at the ASG Parent and Child Show 2010 Auckland!

What an amazing three days, over 13000 adults plus babies attended and Auckland laid on beautiful sunny days! Special thanks to Helen, Erica, Kelly, Emily and Carina for your amazing promoting!!

Our stand looked amazing and the Comfy Bebe team were all ready for the onslaught!

Our Eco Cloth Nappies ran hot over the 3 days! We encouraged people to take a good look at competing brands before deciding which to go with and it was wonderful to have many people return to say that our nappy was the only one they saw that offered all of the features they were looking for. Thanks for that recognition!! We've also heard from people who bought and have started using the nappies and are getting great results!

We drew big crowds at our 3 in 1 Swaddle wrap demonstrations and occassionally got to swaddle a beautiful LIVE baby!! Again the demo said it all, the versatility of the product, amazingly affordable for merino etc. Everyone loved the 21 colours we had available!

Thanks everyone who visited us, we loved chatting with you and learning about what you need and helping you fulfill that. We look forward to the testimonials on the products as the babies arrive.

So for next year we are heading to Wellington in June with ASG and we'll be back in Auckland end of September (date change due to World cup)

I'm looking forward to the next 12 mths! Thanks for supporting us!

Counting down the days!!

The days are speeding by and we are counting down the days to the ASG Parent and child show 29-31 October.

Its our 1st birthday too at this time as we officially launched Comfy bebe at the 2009 show.

So much has happened in the year, personally and business wise.

Expecting awesome success in both getting our brand out in the market place and meeting some lovely Mums and Dads and assisting them in preparing for their new arrivals.

This year I wil have a team of "Mums" helping on the stand who I met at last year's show or during the year and who have bought Comfy bebe products and are really enjoying them.

Helen, Erica, Kelly, Emily and Carina along with myself, will all be available over the three days to answer you questions and show you around the Comfy Bebe Products.

Congratulations to Paul and Jacqui-May Dodd who won the free tickets to the show this year, from visiting us at Mary's Market. See you there!

Still have heaps to prepare before then so I'll sign off and fill you in next time as to how the Show was.

Comfy Bebe's New BLOG

Comfy bebe has launched itself further into cyber space with a BLOG.

Its always interesting talking to new Mums or about to be Mums as to the things they really need, love and wouldn't live without.

One always very interesting topic ofcourse is whether to use Cloth or disposable nappies.

Does our desire to save money over ride our perception that cloth is more work and just plain yuck.

I was motivated by the money savings! Been there done that 21 years ago, wasn't prepared to pay for disposables when the new Modern Cloth nappy (MCN) now existed. Is much easier than the square cloth I used on my girls.

I'm always interested to know what motivates others to use or not to use.

At Comfy Bebe the feedback from Customers has been so encouraging, especially from the use of our 3 in 1 Swaddle wrap that converts to a sleep bag (sak).

Love to hear from you if you've used a Comfy bebe product.

Today I was inspired at a Champagne Breakfast by the Pheonix Club that today is the only day I have, tomorrow isn't guaranteed. A Club inspired by those impacted by Cancer in some way, most of us have lost or know of someone who has lost the battle with cancer.

When it all boils down, (earthquakes and illness help us remember) what is really important to us is those we love, our precious babies and family.

Live today like there's no tomorrow......you'll be glad you did!
